Missing me, I haven't been hard enough...

Started re-reading "Younger Next Year..." before I evolve into the LazyBoy layered in blubber. Sad, so sad, to be sucked into the virtual world on the computer monitor or the other make believe land on your television screen in High Definition, like I needed more reason to wallow in a comfy nest of my own making - ever becoming less than human beings were evolved to become, or very intelligently designed to be... always less if I just don't move enough.

Back in the day (oh, another flash back) when I was running (really running not jogging) and doing marathons for various reasons (almost none of them logical) I told everyone two facts of humanity. The human is designed to jog twenty to twenty-five miles a day, every day of its life, and the pace of the jog is the same as the trot of a dog - before we started fooling with natural selection and producing lap dogs and toys. The second fact was that any healthy human can jog twenty miles - it is always that last 10K (6.2 miles) of a marathon that kills you.

Well, no marathon today - just an hour and six minutes on the road, waving at the heart walker (he wears reflective clothing, too), nodding a greeting to the great-grandfather walking his future to the bus stop - very protectively, good on him! Well, a cuppa coffee, hot shower and out to the real world of libraries inside the cage. Do they have libraries in the zoo for the animals? Nah, unless they have lots of smarter chimps. Next?

Friday, thank God for Fridays...

It was actually a pay day, but my Earning and Deductions Statement hadn't preceded the day so I was a bit confused, also the day to turn in my reports for June which I couldn't because I had not brought my memory with me... I forgot it.

10 July 2009 weight 208.0 pounds, bp is 126/81, Hr 43 bpm and I would only W2D for exercise

I did enjoy riding the motorcycle, hard and fast enough, leaning into the turns and rolling the throttle to keep it up.

Okay, I have been hiding and I am not going to ...

catch up, I have fallen off the wagon and am wallowing around in my lusts (if only I were, I would make a finer pig).

12/01/08 weight 212.0 pounds, bp 135/96 Hr 35 bpm
50x3 TMw/5# DB, 346 calories, 45% fat, Hr 114, Zone 29m55s, Exercised 40m04s

W2D Not a bad day at work, on my feet the whole time, napped on the ferry boat home, watched wrestling while reclining, not enough motivation for more exercises nor rifle work - get some!

Been busy, fatter and lazier and bellied out...

Don't you hate it when motorcyclists seem to have a big fat spare tire proceeding them on the bike? Well, I do, sigh, will have to work on it.

Most of the week weighed in at around 206.0 pounds, blood pressure around 125/84, heart rate around 44 bpm. Not enough exercising and not working on healthier life style except in my medications, fruit and vegetable smoothies and getting sleep and riding my motorcycle for my mind.

Monday I weigh 203.5 pounds, blood pressure is 124/75, and my heart rate is 45 bpm, and I have written up the weekend and by 6:15 am have forgotten it is Monday and that I need to get ready for the new week and new month tomorrow. No wonder my blood pressure is so good, thank you Lord.

Determined that I need to get to 180 pounds and lose the gut fat - spare tire and love handles - and have room for concealing weapons and being dangerous but meek, I eat breakfast, do three solid chin ups, knock out fifty reps of the basice three exercises and go out for my heart rate jog. I burn 517 calories, 40% of them fat, average heart rate is 123 bpm, in Zone 51 minutes 2 seconds, exercised 53 minutes 2 seconds, found two pennies, waved to one 'fatter than I' heart walker - but folks he was out there and that is half the battle. Now to the work day. My wife brings me pulped fruit iced and juiced, cool and refreshing and we discuss my pictures on the bike and how fat I look... she still loves me, must be for my mind. I go do two and a half more chin ups.

Starting my life again, today, repeat the best...

Only have one life, and some things work and others don't. I weigh 206.5 pounds today, blood pressure is 112/78 with a heart rate of 25 bpm, not believing that I do it again and get 108/71 with a heart rate of 34 bpm. I give up do devotions, mindlessly wander my favorite blogs which I checked about eight hours earlier, not much has changed, time to load - I would do better with feeds, or not checking. Kim has lots of his pictures of their trip to Germany, so cool, I was there once. My wife wakes and I do my fifty reps while she sips coffee and gets ready to start the day.

When my wife is ready we go to the YMCA, I do twenty-five minutes on rowing 5K, 20 minutes on some strange stepper strider, ten minutes on another and then a couple minutes on a bicycle. Done for today. Back home we get lunch, too much rice, but everything else is perfect. I go off to shoot, and lucky I brought a box of ammunition, for they had sold all the 9mm before I arrived. So I put up my target on the seven yard line, twenty-one feet and find that my first shot touched the x, and it was down hill from there. Still for forty-two bullets, fired six at a time, one magazine to reload while resting, not too many missed the black. Next time I will just go to the tweny yard pistol line.

Back home after picking up fuel and I cut the grass, my wife washes the cars - she wasn't supposed to do mine, but it was there and she did while I finished the cutting and putting stuff away in the shed.

Fooled Again! or is that "Foiled Again, curses..."

I wake from a dream of riding my motorcycle through a red light and it all went black. End of ride, end of dream. I wake and take medication, weigh 206.5 pounds, blood pressure is 124/78 with a heart rate of 46 bpm. I start my devotions and my wife thinks I am cheating on her on the computer when she has a hot breakfast ready - she calls three times, each getting louder before I answer asking if I could just finish praying... silence from the kitchen. Scrambled eggs and toast wait for me. Seems I am adding to her stress, my girl friend is on the computer or my wife doesn't know I am waiting for her to be my girl friend again.

We putter around and then dress for the Daffodil Parade in Tacoma, perfect timing, parking and watching area by the Museum and UW. It was a good parade, three more towns to go for the marchers, but the day is perfect for sunburns and smiles. I watched carefully for pretty girls, but too many of them are still straightening their teeth, but they will be lovely later... I watch the drummers, very few of them are girls, boys seem to like the drums more. Finally one perfect teenage girl, beautiful and beating on a drum, if I were only forty-five years younger. Then I remember that at that age I didn't speak the same language as the girls, didn't have a clue that I was doing better than I knew and they were never going to tell me either. Having been a teen once, is enough. I wish them all well but I know it will be hard to figure themselves and the world out. The parade was good, and I loved the BMX bike boys bunny hopping over their adult coach sponsor laying on the ground in front of us, every eighty feet he would lay down again and they would start hopping over him - what are they going to do when someone gives them engines? Pirates abounded, and shot a cannon off for thrills and noise and just because they was pirates == my wife said they looked like motorcycle riders and I said the motorcycle riders try to look and act like pirates. Pirates was first, ar-r-rghh!.

After the parade lunch on me at A&W, new management lack of crew and customers. Then stopped at the Market for fruits and vegetables, and my wife reminded me to buy Lotto tickets. Then home to work, washing the cars, my motorcycle, inflating the tires on the bicycle and cleaning it up, then my wife started on cleaning the porch and the garage, I moved into the garage and took all gardening stuff out - it will go in the shed in the back. I moved the chin up bar and the health rider, moved tools and hung the bicycle up on the wall. Rolled the motorcycle back into its place in the garage. Closed and locked the door and was called to dinner. I mentioned to my wife on my test rides on the bicycle I had hurt my ankle because pedalling is an up and down motion that lumbering along isn't. After a quick look to see that there aren't any new candidates for President, Bush is still hiding in Texas, and that tax time is almost up I go back outside to cut the lawn. Which I did so well, I am just amazed and amazing.

I put everything away for the day, close the garage and my wife says I have done a good job and worked hard, she wanted a kiss and got one for acting like my mother all day. I get a hot shower, a chance to find out that no one emailed me, now coffee and sleep.

Stop and analyze, ponder, recover & repair...

I read the update of my friend's mother and think about her and my own, they are being nursed back into health. Their families do worry, prayers are needed and are so prayed. How is it that such important people in our lives, gave so much of themselves in love of family and children that they didn't take better care of themselves? So in my guilt I want to blame them? Of course, it couldn't be my fault that I didn't tell them what is better and healthier - but it was, I have always been the little boy that needed a hug and attention with my parents, even when I grew up and tough and went off to wars, I came home and blurted out the F*** word and went into personal shock at my lapse of manners. I needed a hug, and didn't know how to give one. I read Isaiah 44, and prayed and thought.

Personally, my care of self stinks and I could do so much better. Thursday I weigh 211.5 pounds, 163/84 blood pressure, heart rate 39bpm. I walk to dock. Friday I weigh 210.5 pounds, 140/88 blood pressure with heart rate of 38 bpm, I did walk to the dock. Today I weigh 212.0 pounds, blood pressure is 135/97 and my heart rate is 41 bpm. I must start exercising instead of excusing my indolence. Goal, 180 pounds of bone, muscle and a little fat for the famine...

I take my wife around, then get to pushing the lawn mower around the yard, and that should count for exercise of some kind. I lend the mower to my neighbor and he cuts his, since he is trying to sell his home and his mower is at his parents home. I rake up the clippings, the grass being too damp to bag well when cut and that does count for exercise - working the arms, shoulders and core (ha, ha). Then feeling like a real slug after a nice dinner from my wife and some fresh baked carrot cake, I do go jog - thank goodness. 359 calories, 50% from fat in my blood, average heart rate 116 bpm, in Zone for 33 minutes 11 seconds, exercise timed is 37 minutes and 53 seconds. I did find a penny on the road after having a great idea about getting my favorite boot knife out to sharpen and carry for cutting things. So I have approval for the thought, as long as I remember it later. I did get the boot knife and will clean it up and sharpen it a bit, it still has the edge I put on it years ago.

Strange days by weather and medicines defined?

Thursday I weigh 207.0 pounds, blood pressure is 152/88 with a heart rate of 40 bpm. Friday morning I weigh 207.5 pounds, blood pressure is 125/75 with a heart rate of 47 bpm. I came home late but went crashing to bed and slept soundly until 4:30 am on Friday. I had been invited to my (and the other boys' birthday celebration Thursday evening) and wasn't there and was missed. I want to blame my adjustments to the medications but it could have been the sticker shock from my and my wife's doctor bills (I think they have a new clerk and weren't billing correctly) but maybe the doctor doesn't like us as much as our money.

As I drove to the conference I listened to the CDs: 'STAND UP' by Kevin Stone and 4tified 'MAN ON A MISSION' - both great gospel songs and music, really moving stuff and worth sharing with my brother (the musician) one day. I get to the conference and find gift bags full of wonderful stuff just for Earl and his sixtieth birthday, the other two men (50 & 60) got their goodies and celebration last night. They had me pegged, dragons abounded, watercolors, drawing paper, handmade card with motorcycle pieces and good wishes (from the sixty-five year old lady who will retire in a year and three months), a musically singing card - Macho macho man! (well, only in my dreams), other cards about sixty isn't old, it is RETRO and that is cool (that is why my motorcycle and the Bowie are so like my Colt Model IV series 70 (.45 cal semi-auto) old stuff for an old guy going RETRO. My wife laughs at the multiple dragons wondering if we will have to sell them one day. Nope, we will wait until they fly or waddle away on their own.

Snowing most of the day, not sticking in the lowlands, but those mountain passes are icy and closing, our Eastern Library Keepers will have to detour to Oregon for travelling East if they don't make the cut before closing. I am resting one more night and tomorrow I will start training again, got to get rid of the piles of procrastination, there is a Home Owners Meeting tomorrow and any pistol shooting will have to be after church on Sunday. How does it all sneak up on me, one would think I wasn't watching. Best thing about today, health and happiness-wise, was talking to my son over Skype.com on the computer and internet, then calling and talking to my mother - both sounded pretty good, and I am amazed at how close we are in timely communications although there are many thousands of miles between us.

Monday, Saint Patrick's Day

I weigh 206.5 pounds, bp 125/81 and heart rate of 46. Did not go off to Seattle to run yesterday, did the yard work instead. Lots of people talk about building the core - and then miss the point, all work and swings and sways build the core and we should work more to stretch and work it off to the sides of the center - our jogging, rowing and weights are all balanced exercises, and what we need are more unbalanced ones - done gently. Heavens knows our minds are wonderfully unbalanced already - so should the bodies be, just a bit.

Back from behind the obstacles

12th 210.0 pounds 134/91 bp 42 Hr
13th 210.5 pounds 140/83 bp 40 Hr
14th 208.0 pounds 138/84 bp 40 Hr
15th 205.5 pounds 122/83 bp 45 Hr

I have been missing my exercises and aerobic sessions. My fault and will have to do better today. I go to the YMCA with my wife and I do twenty-five minutes on the rowing machine, and twenty-five minutes on the treadmill, walking pace, and ten minutes on another machine and then the weight machines, for arms back and chest. Feels good to be worked out and a bit wrung out
