No matter what shape your stomach is in?

Okay, I am a slug. I did promise myself a good jog on the 2nd of July, and it never happened, what a wimp!

2 July 2009: Weight 208.0 pounds, BP 146/85 or 130/82 and Heart rate of 47 or 19 beats per minute. 3CU hangs, 3PU hangs, 8 dips, 50 reps of basic three and the Walk to the dock, good pace good stretch and that was it.. for the day.

It was a beautiful Sunny warm day, that turned hotter and made me think I should wait until a bit later to go jog after dinner, the slippery slope to non-achievement and I get rolling down it so well. I played a computer war game instead of jogging, a game I could have paused for the thirty-five minute short route. Must remind oneself that the beginning of every exercise event is getting the body into the start position, which seems to be tougher than anything else.

I do feel stronger, like to think my muscles are responding to the exercise and stretching, that as I work out and up I will get better at all of it and not to be too impatient - not only Rome was't built in a day, but most heroic figures had to spend much time in training to get good enough to survive the first parts of battle. Gates of Fire has the best description of the cowardice that comes from fatigue and just a bit of fear, when one saves his last for himself...

To become stronger turn off the electrical noise...

You want to get that jog in, stop watching television and reading blogs, go out the door and sweat sweetly... the only way to

This morning: weight 206.8 pounds, Blood Pressure 111/88, Heart rate 48 bpm. 3CU hangs, 3 PU hangs, 20x3 basic exercises. Walk to the dock. Jog gently 369 cal. 45% fat, 116 Hr, Z49m11s Ex56m37s. found one nickle, changing stride, impact of foot and push off feels better. Stretches and light dumb bells to finish.

Great mouse trapper resting athlete....

I got two mice yesterday, one large and one small, the trap is re-set for those that don't understand that cheese is dangerous when one should be outside consuming little natural foods.

I also seemed to fall into a rest day. I got up on time on the clock, but then went back to bed after breakfast for a light nap.

Weight was 205.4 pounds, Blood Pressure was 131/82 and Heart rate 49 beats per minute. Only light exercises: 3 CU hangs, 3 PU hangs, 8 tiny Dips, 20 reps of the 3 exercises, 3 CU hangs, 3 PU hangs, 8 more tiny dips. Then dress and off to the Credit Union and work. Walk down to the dock for my two miles maintenance movement. Hot in my heavier jacket and long sleeve shirt. Notice muscle aches while working, they would complain since they are being worked more than normal as I try to recover my toned hard body (which I only think I had in tenth grade football season once, the abs were awesome!). I napped both ways on the ferry and had chicken and cakes when I got home, with fruit. Too much cake, but I left some. During the cool down of the evening before bed, I worked out with fifteen pound dumb bells enough to move and flex, twists and stretches for more maintenance of muscle.

I am taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication and am sure I get liver malfunction because of it - but my liver is probably in good shape being a mostly non-drinker. But LDL is needed for building and repairing body tissue and suppressing it isn't the smartest thing to do but seems to make my doctor happy. I think the muscle ache is only trying to get rid of the toxins and not having the blood vessels open and working as they would if I trained regularly. Will continue to exercise and get hard on that road work, where more of the conditioning happens, the weights and body resistance exercises are good but limiting in calorie burn. I expect my weight won't drop until about week two of hard long road work and then continue down. Goal is 187 or 186 pounds of lean and mean... well, not too mean.

One of my former inmate workers goes by Flaco, in Spanish 'skinny'.

Day Two of the Newer me...

Ha, ha, it is really the same guy all over again. But on Monday 29 June, 2009:

Weight 204.6 pounds, Blood Pressure 130/83, resting Heart rate 45 beats per minute. I started with my fifty reps of the basic three exercises, put on my monitor band and went on a longer jog than Sunday's. The watch said 437 calories burned, 45% fat ones, Heart rate 117 average, in Zone for 55m19s, exercised for 1h6m28s. Instead of a couple of gray hounds racing me along a fence (they did two laps and quit bored with my slog) I get a squirrel leaping along beside me getting to his next tree, even he was faster than I. But the day was fine the sweating very good and I came in well. I walked the two miles to the dock through the lush greenery, always good for my mind as well as the legs that had the jog earlier, stretching out the tightened muscles.

I just looked at a picture from 2007, when I could do a good chin up, will have to work for that again.

You never miss me, do you?

Well, I have been gone and busy and making excuses for not doing better in my personal fitness and health. I don't need to go into them, but I had a great vacation in Hawai'i with so little stress that trying to match my grandson's sleep pattern and running long and walking were very healing and my blood pressure came right down and impressed my doctor. My next appointment with him is the 23rd of September at 8:30 AM on the State time. The only change in medication was for the missing Thyroid so that is still being adjusted.

On 28 June 2009, Weight was 207.0 pounds (twenty too many), Blood pressure 160/95 or 140/101, Heart rate resting was 45 or 48 beats per minute. After church, motorcycling and talking health issues with my friends (all two of them) I took time in the beauty of the evening and exercised. Jogging along the road with hand weights, reflector belt and positive attitude for 36minutes and 20seconds, then doing 55 repetitions of the basic three exercises (bent leg sit ups, push ups, and squats), three hangs trying to do chin ups, pull ups and back arches (so weak, Willie!) finishing with ten cat stretches.

I know, very basic and oh so lame, but it was a start and that is the idea, a daily dose of better time spend than what I would do if I just stare at the television or computer screens. I mean, you know that my fingers and forearms are in excellent shape - they move typing this stuff. This is a good start to looking old and never better, living longer in good health is also a goal. Grandchildren really get fun when they hit eight to ten so that is a few more years to hang on.
