Missing me, I haven't been hard enough...

Started re-reading "Younger Next Year..." before I evolve into the LazyBoy layered in blubber. Sad, so sad, to be sucked into the virtual world on the computer monitor or the other make believe land on your television screen in High Definition, like I needed more reason to wallow in a comfy nest of my own making - ever becoming less than human beings were evolved to become, or very intelligently designed to be... always less if I just don't move enough.

Back in the day (oh, another flash back) when I was running (really running not jogging) and doing marathons for various reasons (almost none of them logical) I told everyone two facts of humanity. The human is designed to jog twenty to twenty-five miles a day, every day of its life, and the pace of the jog is the same as the trot of a dog - before we started fooling with natural selection and producing lap dogs and toys. The second fact was that any healthy human can jog twenty miles - it is always that last 10K (6.2 miles) of a marathon that kills you.

Well, no marathon today - just an hour and six minutes on the road, waving at the heart walker (he wears reflective clothing, too), nodding a greeting to the great-grandfather walking his future to the bus stop - very protectively, good on him! Well, a cuppa coffee, hot shower and out to the real world of libraries inside the cage. Do they have libraries in the zoo for the animals? Nah, unless they have lots of smarter chimps. Next?

Such a slug, so slow...

09/07/08 weight 204.0 pounds, no BP, no exercises, no excuses

09/08/08 weigh 207.0 pounds (!) no excuses don't burn calories do they? neither does no exercises, sigh. BP 115/86 heart rate of 76 bpm (sex is good for BP). 3 chin ups. Eat and run

Jog 418 calories, 40% of them fat, Average Heart Rate 124 bpm, in Zone 35m6s, exercised 38m5s

Think I will concentrate on posting on this blog, with some exercised muscles, sweat dripping from my face and the beginning of bad smell - not that I would ever care, I know where the hot shower is with the Irish Spring and Pert with conditioners - like I have enough hair for conditioners? A beautiful girl was running to the bus stop this morning, she is half Asian and that is always exotic to me. Her hair was flowing and I thought that the shampoo folks would want that picture, long glowing and flowing hair - and she runs much faster and happier than I, for I was worn and going to work and she was fresh and going to be with her friends and teachers. May her school years be blest and the best, preparing her for all the rest.

I walk to the dock and I feel fine, Summer is still here.

Don't turn on the computer...

Because if you do you will go looking at Tam, Breda or Brigit for entertainment. Sigh, I am so weak. Well, temptations come in various packages, I read Frank and Kim, too. Then I did stop and comment on The Sandbox. So my first hour plus of life was enriched and such by my time there, or I really am just a receiver, so sad.

My dreams were strange, Ligonier kind of, motorcycles watching my brother take off and wreck on mine because I was distracted by some secret meeting or message to my girl friend which was one of two in my life but neither. A dream about youth that hardly seems possible. I warn my brother in email, he will laugh it off if he is smart and watch his riding.

I do the medications, weigh and measure, 203.5 pounds and blood pressure is 129/75 with a heart rate of 43 bpm. I finally break away from the computer and have breakfast gruel and do three strong slow chin ups, then a pull up hang. Out the door for my gentle jog, anything is better than nothing - remember that and work it, talk doesn't exercise anything save tongue and lips. I have put the trash out, water the front lawn while I sweat and the jog was cool and good. 331 calories 50% fat, Hr 111 bpm, Zone 25.58, Exercise 38.19. Will have to do more later.

Sweating profusly...

Today I weigh 203.5 pounds - no carbs yesterday to count - blood pressure is 155/84 or 150/90 and heart rate of 63 or 30 bpm. I start to distrust digital measuring machines, so I wake my wife and go gently jogging. 555 calories burnt, 55% of them FAT, average heart rate 109 bpm, Zone 33 minutes 19 seconds, Exercise 1 hour 7 minutes 50 seconds, I rescued eight pennies, talked to one barking dog and was greated by one jogger and one walker. Cool gray morning, 50 degrees outside.

Happy Birthday, Son!

Posting measurements....

Friday weight 204.5 pounds, blood pressure 146/93, heart rate 56 bpm. Saturday weight of 203.0 pounds and I took my wife to the YMCA for our workouts, 24 minutes rowing 5,000 meters, ten minutes stair stepping, ten minutes elliptical trainer, ten minute on a swing trainer and five minutes on the arm peddler.... whatever that was.

Iron Man was a great movie, I cried again at all the appropriate points of Cinderella Man, the movie and liked the extra information in the book, and the skill of the movie makers to keep the essence of the story. Ate out tonight and will have ice cream during King Sejong's Historic Drama.

Fooled Again! or is that "Foiled Again, curses..."

I wake from a dream of riding my motorcycle through a red light and it all went black. End of ride, end of dream. I wake and take medication, weigh 206.5 pounds, blood pressure is 124/78 with a heart rate of 46 bpm. I start my devotions and my wife thinks I am cheating on her on the computer when she has a hot breakfast ready - she calls three times, each getting louder before I answer asking if I could just finish praying... silence from the kitchen. Scrambled eggs and toast wait for me. Seems I am adding to her stress, my girl friend is on the computer or my wife doesn't know I am waiting for her to be my girl friend again.

We putter around and then dress for the Daffodil Parade in Tacoma, perfect timing, parking and watching area by the Museum and UW. It was a good parade, three more towns to go for the marchers, but the day is perfect for sunburns and smiles. I watched carefully for pretty girls, but too many of them are still straightening their teeth, but they will be lovely later... I watch the drummers, very few of them are girls, boys seem to like the drums more. Finally one perfect teenage girl, beautiful and beating on a drum, if I were only forty-five years younger. Then I remember that at that age I didn't speak the same language as the girls, didn't have a clue that I was doing better than I knew and they were never going to tell me either. Having been a teen once, is enough. I wish them all well but I know it will be hard to figure themselves and the world out. The parade was good, and I loved the BMX bike boys bunny hopping over their adult coach sponsor laying on the ground in front of us, every eighty feet he would lay down again and they would start hopping over him - what are they going to do when someone gives them engines? Pirates abounded, and shot a cannon off for thrills and noise and just because they was pirates == my wife said they looked like motorcycle riders and I said the motorcycle riders try to look and act like pirates. Pirates was first, ar-r-rghh!.

After the parade lunch on me at A&W, new management lack of crew and customers. Then stopped at the Market for fruits and vegetables, and my wife reminded me to buy Lotto tickets. Then home to work, washing the cars, my motorcycle, inflating the tires on the bicycle and cleaning it up, then my wife started on cleaning the porch and the garage, I moved into the garage and took all gardening stuff out - it will go in the shed in the back. I moved the chin up bar and the health rider, moved tools and hung the bicycle up on the wall. Rolled the motorcycle back into its place in the garage. Closed and locked the door and was called to dinner. I mentioned to my wife on my test rides on the bicycle I had hurt my ankle because pedalling is an up and down motion that lumbering along isn't. After a quick look to see that there aren't any new candidates for President, Bush is still hiding in Texas, and that tax time is almost up I go back outside to cut the lawn. Which I did so well, I am just amazed and amazing.

I put everything away for the day, close the garage and my wife says I have done a good job and worked hard, she wanted a kiss and got one for acting like my mother all day. I get a hot shower, a chance to find out that no one emailed me, now coffee and sleep.

Burned it all out...

Fevered dreams and sweaty sheets by morning the sinus, cold is gone driven away in the night. I am pleased. Tomorrow I will pick my training up again for today I need to adjust all my other stuff. My Triumph needs chain lube, and some cleaning. My bills need attention and paying, my library has two days of work to get started on and the Public Library Human Resources does deserve a return call so we can discuss my future - always good to think one has a future. I weigh 205.5 pounds, blood pressure is 130/83 with a resting heart rate of 38 bpm.
