Concealed Carry... you just can't hide that weight...
I did this little video to see what I really look like. First there is the image in my mind, and that can't be right since it is stuck at about twenty-five to thirty-five. Then there is the image in my mirror when I shave and clean up for exiting the house - too close and concentrated and backwards of reality, no that isn't me either. So I take a quick video to see what I look like. Sure enough an old man, wearing loose fitting clothes (room to layer or grow into), and still following that bursting belly and breast fat through the door. Sigh.
This mornings weight, 234.2 pounds, blood pressure 152/81 and resting heart rate of 38 bpm. I did go for a heart walk, found I still want more air, but it could be my heart is just not efficient again. I had lots of foggy breath on the exhale. I stopped about two-thirds the way up the big hill and the minor ones, rested a bit at the top of the big one. Had no trouble going down hill. Didn't wear a watch, still thinking I am blessed to be able to meander around the block. Keep on working it.

My wife wanted to seriously talk, and she did...
Mostly about my failings, how our finances are, and that she was going to retire and wouldn't be able to buy groceries any longer. All things I have known about for years, and when I was young I would have been upset about it, I am very calm now. It all doesn't matter, I will be dead soon enough and she will be a widow and will have it all.
So we went over the money, the need for updated wills, and what she would expect to have to live upon when I am dead. She doesn't really understand, her friends have to tell her what she needs to do to get what she should have had me do long ago. The Disability came up again, seems she knows some other women that their husbands get disability payments and why am I not going to the VA to get mine. That was added to my plate, I will check into it.
I ended up going and chopping down the old garden, it will be grass next year, and moving the fence, the bricks I will get later for bordering the new garden. Then I went and got my walk in today, a very nice afternoon for it. Didn't need to stop before the top of the hill, makes me wonder if I should start moving out smarter, but I didn't bring my watch so I didn't even clock how long I was walking, but even if I recorded it, will I ever use that record for anything? Nope, it was the walk that was most important.

Not missed if you aren't there... they think you...
changed your exercise or the drill time. I was walking today, and it isn't as easy as it once was -- the breathing isn't good enough, or the heart doesn't pump enough, and I am resigned to getting worse until I get better. As I walked I waved at a lady from my old church - and I was sure I was visible but she never acknowledged the wave or my existence. Kind of like the Sixth Sense, I am dead and don't know it yet.
But I must keep walking and I must do better about preparing for my wife's widowhood. That will be tough. I can hear her telling me that if I had only listened to her, had checked with my doctor and did exactly what they said I had to do... she will be upset, and that has never been my intent.
The special reading glasses are from my mother, for Y2K and the special day, and I was looking for something in the Yellow Pages, probably a restaurant to go out and eat at. Gosh, I was so much younger then, only eleven years and a few months ago.

First the postman commented on how far I run (part of it is his route) and then a boy on a tricycle with his buddy in the back and his hat on backwards, gave me a thumbs up and a cheerful 'carry on' with his bright smile. I chuckled and thanked him for the encouragement.

Cut the lawns
Towards the end of the month, gains in jogging, Hr and breathing, for the year the trend is down about ten pounds from what it was the first four months of the year. Still need to make body weight exercises and stretching part of the daily routine.

My wife moved the suitcoat buttons, taking up slack
Didn't seem that long ago I had moved the buttons back to the expanded position because the jacket wasn't hanging right and I was too, too big. But since the jacket needed cleaning, and some stain removal and my waist is shrinking again, she kindly moved the buttons, still roomy enough to carry concealed if I need to, and if I lose more weight I could get two guns under the coat.

The jogging was pretty consistent during the trip and back. Doctor's visit went well today, no more blood thinner, blood pressure is fine and no colostomy needed.

Did not feel like jogging, measurably...
Oh, I did want to jog before the rains come in, I did want to sweat and lose weight. But I felt a little tired. So I decided on a fun run, attitude is almost everything in perception. No hand weights, no constant pushing when the heart rate monitor says you aren't in the zone, and I took a camera, in case I saw something to take a picture of.
So I took a picture of me and some Scotch Broom in bloom. And I jogged, stretching out some but mostly ignoring the slow pace. Results? Well, the distance was the same as yesterday and I stopped for one picture, and then at home noted (recorded the lack of difference).

My wife answered the telephone at 6:30 this morning, and spent thirty minutes talking to her minister from Germany, who has been preaching in Alaska fhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifor the last few years. When it came time to sending their regards my wife referred to me as "Big Belly-ed" no longer a slim trim fighting machine, which is long ago and far away. Sigh.
Anyway, I am a little excited by the idea of doing USA4corners in September, while my wife is in Korea. And stopping in San Diego to see my son's family after the last corner, recovering and then riding north on I-5. Sounds like a plan. Cost for record is $100, then gasoline. Practice for this run is the Dungey Family Reunion in Illinois near my cousin's home.
I need to start exercising during the fuel and rest stops, because the body doesn't move enough while seated on aircraft or motorcycles, so Matt Furey is a basic three, and I will have to do my first today. Wish me luck, going to do it or die trying.

Almost Mother's Day, and I weigh 244.2 pounds, let me blame it on my Thyroid and its destruction at the hands of the blood pressure medicines. Probably no truth in that, but it would be better than I thinking that I am not moving enough or eating too much or just sitting around watching mindless television for my education.

National Propaganda Radio is not in the KNOW...
Before my jog today, I was listening to KPLU for Jazz, but at three the NPR comes on to dull the education of the masses. The phrase that caught my ear was "and even if you could get a balanced budget with income meeting the expenses, you would still need to borrow money to pay the interest due on what we borrowed before." I know there is someone being paid lots of money for balancing the NPR budget, and that he/she isn't the same person writing the Liberal Lies for NPR release. Sad, and Congress agreed not to cut that out of the budget, and you wonder why the Chinese are improving every year, and we aren't? Congress doesn't know what an education is... hmmm.
Just saying people working the broadcast at NPR, I have my personal budget made so I pay my interest, bills and liabilities against my income, and when that isn't enough I go and find more work at higher wages, you probably need folks like me to start talking on NPR, don't you? At least highlight the errors before they rock the economy.

Standing here a little light headed, eat a cookie...
It was a long drive yesterday to Bickleton, Washington for a meeting of the RWVA instructors to pick a new State representative for Appleseed. I wanted to donate my two Liberty Training Rifles, Remington 597's and a dummy drill rifle for positions. Then the long drive back.
The long time thinking, long conversation with wife upon my return made me want to look at the side effects of my medications, sure enough one of them looks bad - that will no longer attack my body, it is gone. I also need to continue to jog, and work on the diet, lose the weight and stay off the recliner in front of mindless television and commercial interruptions - why am I paying for cable? Oh, my wife has some entertainment choices. They do commercial interruptions too, but the women are hot.
I needed to look at carrying the heavier pistol, so I started looking at belts to use for concealed carry under the fat man trousers, I had to start laughing, when I was looking good at about 193 pounds (still running like an old man, but better than now) I had cut new holes in my belts so I could continue to wear them, too cheap (I like to use frugal but cheap works) to buy new, now I don't want to tell you which holes I am using but they aren't the once self cut.
I did jog with hand weights for the fourth day in a row. Sure Jogging shoes should be well cushioned so they aren't Jarring shoes.

Jog, felt slow and I was ponderously plodding... my wife says walking would be enough, but she just doesn't want me to hurt myself unless I could get more disability pay... which the incompetent Congress decided not to pay if the government shutdown. Ah, well, the Republicans and the TEA PARTY have CAVED they are as Craven as the Democratic Party, time to bring the Legions back and restore the Constitution of the United States against its domestic, no matter where they were really born, enemies. Oh, got carried away, the jog was 49m56s no coins found but the dogs were in fine form.

April Fools, and that is all that needs to be said...
Don't you know that I Xtrmly dislike (HATE being too strong an emotion) being a fat waddling old fool jiggling down the road. But I have to thank the LORD, that I am gently jogging down the road - for my betterment and in spirit with all those that can't, don't or won't do what little I am able. Amen.
I have a Prayer Breakfast invite from the International Gideons, Tacoma Chapter, at Elmers at seven tomorrow morning. I will be there, although since I have a new translation red letter edition of the Bible I will likely let them give their Blue New Testament to another seeker. I hope I can find some utility for the distribution of the Word. I will see.

Did not exercise, saw doctor for drop off of X-rays, no consultation, test for clogging, oops! clotting, I passed, thirty days til next test, continue 9units in the evening until. Watch for side effects. Don't read those things, you won't take the medicine. Kind of like those software agreements. I did go see Sucker Punch, went to sleep, woke and enjoyed the strange feast of beauty and ugly before my eyes. Movie is only recommended for 18 to 24 year old males in the military in Afghanistan - send them a copy before the bootlegging takes over - which I am probably too late to advise.

The day is good and gray, but no droplets nor pelting precipitation. My mind is on war and remembrance, not the television show but explaining why I do what I do when I do it. Not really using my watch except to time my jog...
I often thought in my once regimented life that when I retired I would never wear a watch again. Or, that I would wear three piece suits and have a large gold pocket watch with a fancy fob, that I would sport around town impressing the beautiful young ladies. They are all glued to their latest electronic tether, for socializing beyond bacterial reach. The world changes but not my view, I seem so locked into yesterdays.
March 26 I weighed 240.0 pounds, BP 123/72 Hr 46, Bible Study and rains no run.
March 27 I weighed 241.0 pounds, BP 136/87 Hr 44, Church and day of Rest, no run.
March 28 I weighed 243.0 pounds, BP 124/83 Hr 43, watching my grandson (who is bored watching two little old people on a computer monitor - talking!) show us how he can JUMP! off of the floor now, his mother laughs proudly. It makes me want to get to Hawaii and see it for real. So I go jog, just 47m45s and find one quarter on the ground. Good feeling about being out, the day and the run. So good that after a shower I take my rolled coins to the Credit Union and visit the hospital to get a copy of the report of the chest x-rays that seem to be bothering their fine staff. The emergency room was full! I went to x-ray and found that they will burn a disc with the report for me to give my doctor or study at my leisure, like I know what I would be looking at. Yes, of course I will look, and remain sure that I will not do much but continue to run. The medications are too much about symptoms and not about cures. In the end, no one can cure death, and all the wrinkle creams and make ups may make me seem beautiful - but I am only good looking when I share my love. That doesn't come in a bottle with child proof cap.

Beautiful day for jogging gently...
Contractor came by, found something broken, fixed it. He was given the four things we want done, in the order of need, with the idea we need him to give us estimates and bids. I went for my jog at two, came back in 47m57s, pleased with the day, the thoughts and the jog. Felt strong and readier than the first two times this week. What has changed was a rest day, except for digging, and no medications except for thyroid one. If my blood pressure was too low yesterday I can blame it on the drugs - look at the warning labels for side effects. You would begin to wonder if they forgot the "do no harm" part of the doctor's oath. I bought Lotto tickets, $312 Million on winning MegaMillion tonight, wish me luck. Picked up my blood thinner and Cow Manure for the gardens, looking for chicken but they didn't have it where I looked.

Day two, a beautiful day for daydreaming...
So I didn't go as fast as I should have, but I was out there. My weight today is 241.4 pounds, blood pressure while reading about Joshua, 112/64 my heart rate was 48. The heart rate means I am not catching up to yesterday, I am so out of sync. I did the normal morning medications, wandered the internet, played one war game. Then I moved a couple of chairs, knocked out 20 reps of the basic three, need to do minimum of fifty but am taking it slow and the stomach is really in the way. I go for a jog, slowly and gently and drift off into daydreams, so 50m33s. But I was out there, the day was just beautiful and my sweatshirt was too hot. Now about the economy, either I am losing my telescopic vision or people don't throw coins away like they once did. But two jogs and no coins? Something isn't right.
My son once asked about my marathon time, this was the first one I ever ran, still remember the fourteen year old girl that ran with me about five miles before we hit eighteen miles, she turned and said good-bye and ran off leaving me in the dust. I was probably slowing down too much. I was thirty at the time. A bunch of family was waiting patiently in the October cold, and I ate a whole half gallon of ice cream as my just reward.

Yeah, really. So today is March 22, 2011. Weight is 241.4 pounds, blood pressure after sitting reading some Bible verses, 127/87 with a heart rate of 42 beats per minute. I call a Handyman, he comes out to do the hard stuff, draining the swamp under the house, my wife decides she wasnts new flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms, linoleum not tile (anther day, getting rid of the water is primary now). When he goes off to buy the sump pump and hoses I go for a jog. Just a gentle jog. Still need to do it daily, not skipping large pieces of my life. Around the block, 47m17s, no coins found, no breathing problem, no heart attack that I know about. I do think that crossing intersections I go faster if a kind motorist is waiting on my passage. Feel good about the distance, the time, the jog, feet are fine I don't hurt. Washed all the clothes when I get back. Sent in the report on my evaluation of the treatment I received from Mr. Allen, PA at the emergency ward at Madigan Army Hospital. I rated him high, only expressing my disappointment in not knowing what is wrong with my lungs and the xrays that isn't showing up in my doctor's office nor on the xrays on the St Clare Hospital machines. But I figure if I am dying I don't want to know, I am committed to that end and living is all I can really affect.

Okay, feelling better so this is where I tell my secrets...
I am disgustingly FAT!. Weighed in at 247.6 pounds yesterday, sigh (that was the sound the scale made as I stepped off). So I went out and gently jogged around the big block, 49m49s and one penny found. It was good when I got back showered and changes I noticed almost all the swelling in my feet was gone. That is an indicator.
So today, weighing in at 241.4 pounds, in this corner of the world, Earl!!! Loud applause. Raining outside, hope for a break in the afternoon, but after Bible reading and breakfast, chased off of television by demented Charlie Sheen and Momarra Qadaffi, I started the treadmill and healthrider exercising, ten minutes on treadmill, 3 degrees, three mph or more, 5 minutes on HealthRider do it four times, result, light sweat and one hour of exercise done. Life is good, Thank the Lord.

Ah, it doesn't rain on my head...
Went and got out of the house, mail and banking, and getting put on the Space A list at the AFB (for Hawai'i) came back and later went to jog gently. Total time on the road, 48m 29s no coins found. Good to be out, tightened up too much Sunday by not exercising, but one has to return to physical perfection slowly.

I have been feeling better so have no excuse...
I am a very fat old man, the scales shout at me that I am too heavy, get off! 236.4 pounds this morning. Blood pressure isn't bad, 133/80 and heart rate is 43 beats per minute, sitting. I did my farmville chores and got out the door and down the road, and jogged a whole 47 minutes and 10 seconds - slow jog but I was back on the road. Good stuff for many reasons.
I showered, shaved and put my teeth in -- got my pistol case with lots of ammunition and went to the range to exercise my skills. I love the accuracy of the Ruger Mark III and the Colt .45, the 9mm is okay but I am not shooting competition with it ever. But then I don't compete much anymore. Just glad to be alive.
